Saint Patrick's Day is finally here! The theme of Saint Patrick's Day is the color green and nothing is more green than cannabis. Below is a handy guide to getting high with culturally infused edibles and homage strains.
Throw on an episode of Baked by Birdie, grab a Levo and get ready to bake and be baked. Levo is a sleek, little kitchen aid that is a decarboxylator and oil infuser in one that takes all the fun of pouring preserves and labeling mason jars with grandma, into the 21st century. Forget about the cheese-cloth, the strainer, and all the messy “bubble, bubble, toil and trouble.”
Follow the simple instructions for infusing oil or butter at the touch of a button.
The Food Network has an easy recipe for chocolate, Guinness Stout cupcakes.
Where the recipe calls for butter, use infused butter instead. Then top off the cupcakes with some pistachio green frosting. Guests will happily say, “Kiss me, I’m Highrish,” before the day is over.
Here is another recipe, for amazingly easy Irish soda bread. When made with infused butter the bread will not be the only thing that is baked. For a mild, but non-psychoactive nosh that will put party people in good spirits, prepare it with CBD oil, in place of butter.
An infused matcha latte may not be as obvious a choice for a St. Patrick’s Day beverage as an Irish coffee, however, make a matcha latte Irish, by infusing it with Bailey’s; or a few drops of peppermint cannabis oil. Top if off with expertly adorned latte art, such as a shamrock applied with a Ripple Maker.
While genuine Irish folks are in church, many non-Irish Americans will carouse, day drink, binge Guinness, and ultimately end up slurring their speech while badly imitating an awful Irish accent. They will say silly things that Irish people don’t really say such as “Top o’ the mornin’ to you,” – while wearing green clothes and green plastic Mardi Gras beads. A more subtle way to celebrate is to choose an appropriate strain in honor of the day. Below is a guide to strains that are ready to make people cackle like a leprechaun.
1.) Albino Leprechaun is an Indica strain. It is a cross between the White and Lucky Charms. It promotes euphoria and creativity; however, people who are prone to anxiety should probably eschew this strain in favor of another one. It is an appetite stimulant as well, so bring on the corned beef hash, rasher sandwiches and blood pudding.
2.) Emerald Jack is a Sativa that has a 20-24% THC level. It is a cross between Emerald O.G. and (actual O.G.) Jack Herer. Its effects build up slowly. It boosts energy and creativity, so you can behave like a Jack the Lad all day. It’s also known to help alleviate migraines, so it will come in handy to help the morning after St. Patrick’s Day hangover.
3.) Green Dream is a Sativa-dominant, 23.5%-THC-level hybrid that will cause relaxation and peels of laughter.
4.) Green Goblin is a 65/35 Sativa-dominant with a 24%-THC-level. This hybrid is of unknown origin. Perhaps it came from the faerie folk. Like Green Dream, it also promotes giggles and camaraderie, which works well for a holiday celebration.
5.) Green Queen has a 17-19% THC level. It is a cross between Space Queen and Green Crack that promotes euphoria, laughter and socialization that is perfect for revelry and merry making.
6.) Irish Cream is a 100% Indica, with 16% THC. It was created by an infamous gang of breeders based in Ireland – Mighty Irish Seeds.
7.) Irish Haze #7 is a Sativa-dominant hybrid with 60/40 aspect ratio. It is a cross between Amnesia Haze and Mighty Irish Hope. Its breeders say it provides a sensation of being “Baked to fried all ‘round.” Cheers!
8.) Lucky Charms is a Sativa-dominant hybrid that has a 15-20% THC level. It is a cross between Appalachia and the White strains. It has an aroma that is reminiscent of the “magically delicious” frosted cereal with its marvelously melting marshmallows. The high comes on quickly, but is good for light-weights because it is chillaxing yet functional.
9.) Mighty Irish Hope is mostly Indica, with a 15%-THC-level. While it sounds like an awesome name for a boxer or a racehorse, it is actually a cross between Mighty Mite Indica and Hollands Hope. It is a mild strain that is easy to be functional on around the in-laws.
10.) Pot o’ Gold is an Indica-dominant, 27%-THC-level hybrid strain that hails from Holland. The Pot o’ Gold strain is known to bring on the munchies, big time, so make sure to have plenty of frosted green Guinness cupcakes and soda bread on hand.
