Meg Matthews is growing her own cannabis to help other women relieve the symptoms of menopause.
Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife has revealed she’s got cannabis farms of her own in England and Ireland to extract the CBD oil for healing properties.
The 53-year-old is ultimately hoping to market the products she makes from the legal part of the oil for up to £70 a bottle.
She told Sunday People: ‘The seeds don’t have THC in – the hallucinogenic part in weed which makes you get stoned.
‘So if you went to cut that eventual plant down, then you couldn’t smoke it. I have people who test the crop to see that it is up to a high enough standard and quality.’
Meg explained how the plant gets cold-compressed and then the liquid is extracted resembling black tar.
In her South London workshop, the CBD oil is then bottled up or used in other products, like gummy bears.
When it comes to her own menopause symptoms, Meg says she had 32 of the 34 most common, previously saying that her initial experience was ‘the worst 18 months of her life’.
She first revealed that she had been using cannabis oil in February after a friend recommended it for anxiety.
Speaking on the Healthy Beast podcast, Meg said: ‘Even though I was taking [Hormone Replacement Therapy], I still had anxiety on most days.
‘Not long after taking the CBD oil, I noticed that I was feeling much calmer and less anxious.
‘For me, the worst kind of anxiety is the anxiety that has no root cause; feeling anxious for no reason at all was one of the worst things about my menopause experience.
‘A lot of people have noticed the difference in me and I feel a sense of calm that I haven’t felt for a very long time,’ she says.
‘I was really pleasantly surprised because I really couldn’t believe that something so simple could help me so much. But I noticed a huge change in myself.’
Not only did the CBD oil help with Meg’s anxiety, it also helped with her insomnia, assisted in getting her off the anti-depressants she was taking for her anxiety – and pretty much cured her joint pain, too.
