New Massage and Wellness store opens on Grand River – The State News

Massage and Wellness Boutique recently opened inside the Campus Town Mall on East Grand River Avenue.

The boutique is an add-on to the current Massage and Wellness that has been in the building for two and a half years, they offer services like massages and spa treatments such as facials, waxing and body wraps.

“So we had both staff and friends in the area that were interested in carrying some of their things that they make in a store,” said Alan Glanz, the store's owner.

The store features a variety of wellness products including essential oils, candles, socks, salt lamps and bath bombs. Many of these products are made locally as well, including CBD products.

Glanz said the store caters to students and community members and strives to provide products and services for all ages, and about 60% of their clients are affiliated with MSU.

He said the boutique also employs many MSU students, and he often asks his student employees for input on what should be sold in the store to better cater to students.

“Our history has always been to be affordable, especially for students. We've always had student rates, which is not so common in facials and massages,” Glanz said. “Part of our mission is to help students get through.”

On affordability, Glanz said his goal is to provide reasonable prices that suit everyone in the community.

He said Massage and Wellness will take 10% off all products in the store if you receive one of the services, in addition to Black Friday deals such as 15% off all Himalayan salt lamps.

The boutique will also soon be adding free services inside the store, like free light therapy for seasonal disorder and massage chairs.

“We purchased last winter a light therapy device, and you sit in front of it for 10 minutes or so,” Glanz said. “That will be a free service … where you can come in and sit.”

The store is also mission based, with part of their profits going towards the Ishi Odamtten Foundation which works to build medical centers in Ghana and is currently working on creating an orphanage.

Candles made in Hastings, Michigan were provided by a couple that works out of their pole barn, Glanz said.

“Thats whats exciting, helping local artisans,” he said.

He said soaps and potentially CBD beard oil are products the store has to cater to men as well.

“CBD is also really helpful for animals, like arthritis in dogs,” he said.

Glanz said he wants to provide a unique store for those in the area to shop for themselves and also for quick gifts, especially since Mackerel Sky, another local store to shop for gifts, is closing.

“It was a unique idea to have a store where some of the products we use or they might see here we can provide for them,” Glanz said. “We are sort of describing it as ‘take the well being with you,' you can take it for yourself and also like gift ideas.”
